Caregiver /Nanny

In June,2019 immigration Refugee and citizenship Canada launched two 5-year Pilot programs under caregiver streams for permanent residency.

  • Home child care provider pilot
  • Home support worker pilot

These new pilot programs have numerous benefits over previous caregiver programs. The new program offers occupation restricted work permit, that said, you can change the employer if you are staying within same occupation. Applicant does not need a labor market impact assessment (LMIA). Not only this, but applicants can also submit permanent residency and work permit applications together to Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada. Applicants for caregiver program can also accompany their spouse or dependent children to Canada.

Home child care provider pilot: (NOC 4411)

Eligibility criteria:
Caregiver must care for children under the age of 18 in their own home or employer’s home.

  • Eligible job offer from Canadian employer.
  • CLB 5 language level
  • One year of Canadian post-secondary education or foreign equivalent education.
  • Admissible to Canada.
  • Plan to live outside of Quebec.

Home support worker: (NOC 4412)

Eligibility criteria:

Caregiver must care for someone who need help from a home support worker either in their own home or in employer’s home.

  • Eligible job offer from Canadian employer.
  • CLB 5 language level
  • One year of Canadian post-secondary education or foreign equivalent education.
  • Admissible to Canada.
  • Plan to live outside of Quebec.
