Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, On January 8, 2021, the Government of Canada announced a new policy for former international students who are currently on Post Graduate Work Permit that has expired on or after Jan 30, 2020 or expiring within 4 months from the date they are applying. As per the news, these applicants will have one time opportunity to get an open work permit.  This is great news for all eligible candidates as they will have more time to stay in Canada and work their way towards Permanent Residency. Who is eligible:

1. An applicant must have a PGWP that expired on or after January 30, 2020 or a PGWP that expires in 4 months or less from the date they apply for an open work permit
2. Still, be in Canada
3. Must have a valid temporary status

When will this application intake open? Applications will be open from January 27 to July 27, 2021. More details regarding work permit will be available around Jan 27, 2021.
