Streams under TR To PR

  3. International Graduate Category: Graduates from Canadian post secondary institutions are eligible under this stream.
  4. French Speaking health care workers, non health care occupations and international graduates have different streams to apply.

Common Features of all streams

For all these streams, there are some key common features. Firstly, you must be eligible in one of the above streams. Secondly, you must have the language proficiency results. Temporary changes to the post-graduation work permit (PGWP) program.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Canadian government is lending support to International students. As announced on February 12, 2021 Studies completed outside Canada up to December 31, 2021, will count towards a future PGWP and allow international students to complete their entire program online from abroad while still being eligible for a PGWP. These temporary changes apply to all international students who are enrolled in a PGWP-eligible program and meet all other PGWP criteria.

Great news: One another open work permit for eligible former international students.

Yes, you heard it right. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, On January 8, 2021, the Government of Canada announced a new policy for former international students who are currently on Post Graduate Work Permit that has expired on or after Jan 30, 2020 or expiring within 4 months from the date they are applying. As per the news, these applicants will have one time opportunity to get an open work permit.  This is great news for all eligible candidates as they will have more time to stay in Canada and work their way towards Permanent Residency. Due to Covid-19, some International students lost jobs or they did not find the appropriate job they need to gain valuable experience for PNP or federal permanent residency streams. IRCC announced one-time open work permit opportunity, so former students can gain experience and apply for permanent residency of Canada.

Who is eligible:

  1. An applicant must have a PGWP that expired on or after January 30, 2020 or a PGWP that expires in 4 months or less from the date they apply for an open work permit
  2. Still, be in Canada
  3. Must have a valid temporary status

When will this application intake open? Applications will be open from January 27 to July 27, 2021. More details regarding work permit will be available around Jan 27, 2021.

Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship

2020 was a challenging year for one and all. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the parents and grandparents sponsorship for 2020 was delayed. On October 5, 2020, the government of Canada announced an intake for parents and grandparents sponsorship for a maximum of 10,000 applications for 2020 intake. In 2021, CIC will open a new intake of interest to sponsor forms to accept a total of 30,000 new applications.
